The March of the Old Gods
Caer Maerdoc was the second Barony to be incorporated into the kingdom of Amarith. Lord Oswin Maerdoc was granted the Barony by King Barris Ravenmore after Lord Oswin single handedly rallied an army of volunteer soldiers and broke a siege of Amarith being conducted by Frost Giants from the Silver Mountains 1500 years ago. The current Lord of Caer Maerdoc is Lord Braywin Maerdoc, who was made Lord of Caer Maerdoc 2 years ago after his much beloved father, Lord Garrett Maerdoc, abdicated his position due to failing health.
Caer Maerdoc does not produce heavy cavalry for the kingdom of Amarith as the rest of the baronies do, but instead stays closer to it’s plainsmen roots and produces light cavalry that serve as scouts for the Kingdom’s vanguard, and will occasionally be used as harriers against advancing armies. Caer Maerdoc also supplies many of the Kingdom’s archers when it is called to war, with many of Amarith’s tactics relying on dense archer volleys.
Underneath Caer Maerdoc is a series of cave systems that have traditionally been used as larders and as a last resort for when besiegers make their way past the walls. However, this has only had to be used once, when Caer Maerdoc was razed to the ground during the Last Great Dragon Purge. The defenders made their final stand in these caves, and successfully drove back the attackers with the help of the Plainsmen. Since then, Caer Maerdoc has stood tall during times of siege, much like Amarith.
