The March of the Old Gods
Thorfaldur is the seat of the Dwarven king, the largest of the Dwarven cities, and the start of the great underground roads that connect all of the Dwarven cities to one another. Thorfaldur is one of the oldest settlements of the realm, and has never been invaded, and its walls have never been breached. King Drogan Harladhul has been the acting king of Thorfaldur for the last 138 years, succeeding his father, King Endric Harladhul.
Thorfaldur and the other Dwarven cities stand as a bastion against the threats from below the mountains, with the Drow constantly attacking the Dwarven cities, and aberrations coming from even further underground to assault fortified Dwarven positions. Dwarven scouts have also reportedly spotted demons underground, but follow up accounts have failed to report anything of that nature.
Due to the Lannoch river flowing through the center of the city, Thorfaldur enjoys trade between Amarith, Alyanthyr, and Corvos, trading fine dwarven crafts, armor, and weapons for timber, fine cloth, wine, olives, and foodstuffs. Dwarves also trade their expertise in metalworking and stonemasonry for various forms of payment, though the most common form is gold.
